Can't make it to the gym? Your Tampa YMCA membership grants access to YMCA360, our exclusive on-demand and live-streamed content platform. Access hundreds of virtual workouts, healthy living programs and family activities anytime from your phone or smart TV!

Wellness Policies at the Tampa Y

All youth age 10-14 must complete a youth orientation in order to be permitted on the Wellness Center floor. Ages 11 and under must be with a parent/guardian or registered in a Y program if using the Wellness Center floor.

What Can My 12-14 Year-Old Do?

  • May use cardio machines and selectorized weight machines independently.
  • May use plate-loaded and free weights with direct supervision of parent/guardian (18+).
  • Can attend any class with direct supervision of a parent/guardian (18+).
  • Can attend cycling if the child properly fits on the bike (at instructor's discretion). 

What Can My 10-11 Year-Old Do?

  • May use cardio machines and selectorized weight machines with direct supervision of parent/guardian (18+).
  • Can attend all non-weight based classes with direct supervision of parent/guardian (18+)
  • Can attend cycling if the child properly fits on the bike (at instructor's discretion). 

Ages 9 & Younger?

  • For safety reasons, is NOT permitted to use the Wellness Center.
  • Family-specifc class formats only.
  • Direct supervision of parent/guardian required.
  • Children of any age are not permitted to sit on the side or in the back of any group fitness class.

Read our Wellness Center Guidelines below, all YMCA locations have a Wellness Couch available to ask questions about policy, equipment usage or general wellness advice.

  • The Y is a family facility; please dress appropriately. In addition, shirts and athletic shoes must be worn.
  • Please re-rack weights & put away equipment when finished using.
  • No food allowed in the Wellness Center. Only beverages in sealed containers are allowed.
  • Please use dedicated wipes & spray to clean equipment after use.
  • Please do not sit on equipment for long periods of time and allow others to work in when doing multiple sets.
  • Inappropriate language or behavior may result in loss of privileges.
  • 30 minute time limit on all equipment if members are waiting.
  • Bags are not permitted on the wellness floor. Please use lockers or alternative storage.
  • Please be courteous to others by turning your phones to silent & refrain from talking on your cell phone.
  • Children ages 9 and under are not allowed in the Wellness Center.
