Paws and Presents – Spurlino YMCA’s Angel Tree Supporting Every Member of the Family
The Spurlino Family YMCA is once again spreading holiday joy through their annual Angel Tree initiative. This effort not only supports local families but also extends compassion to the four-legged friends at C.A.R.E. of Ruskin animal shelter.
The Angel Tree program allows members, staff and community partners to select “angels” representing children and adults facing financial challenges. In addition to the angles, you can also find dog bones if you wish to support an animal at C.A.R.E. Each angel and bone tag lists a few holiday wishes or items that can make the season brighter. Whether it’s a toy under the tree, a warm jacket, essential household items or pet supplies, this beloved holiday tradition highlights Y’s commitment to nurturing the well-being of the entire family year-round.
“The holidays can be a stressful time for families who are working hard just to meet their basic needs,” said Jarrod Williams, Executive Director of the Spurlino Family YMCA. “Our Angel Tree gives us the chance to relieve some of that burden and remind families that their community is here for them. Extending the program to include pets was important to us because pets bring comfort, stability and joy, especially during difficult times. Supporting the whole family now includes pets looking for their forever home!”
The outpouring of support has been a heartwarming reminder of the community’s strength and compassion. At its core, the Angel Tree is about connection, uplifting neighbors, supporting families in meaningful ways and creating moments of joy when they are needed most.
We are grateful to our members, donors and staff who have selected an angel already, and we invite others to join as we work together to brighten the holidays for even more families and pets this season.
