Twins are known to have a special bond beyond that of regular siblings. They often want to do everything together. Such is the case with Lincoln and Aubrey. When their mother enrolled them in Y Summer Camp, she was worried that bond might be tested. “My son has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair,” explains Lauren Bradley. “I asked the Y if he could remain with the main camp to be close to his twin sister.”   Not only did the Bob Sierra Y staff accommodate Lauren’s request, they went above and beyond. “WOW! The YMCA Summer Program exceeded all expectations,” says Lauren. “The staff was exceptional! They included Lincoln in all of the daily activities, field trips and fun events.”   Lincoln got to enjoy summer camp alongside his sister and as a part of the entire group. The Y’s welcoming, inclusive atmosphere means the world to Lauren. “He came home every day with the biggest smile on his face. He was even named Camper of the Summer,” recalls Lauren. “The Y runs an excellent summer program!”   Your kids don’t have to wait for the summer to experience the Y’s safe and supportive environment. With the holidays coming up, many of our family Ys offer Holiday Camp. While you work, your children can spend Thanksgiving and Winter Break at the Y with trained staff playing a variety of camp-style games, crafts, swimming and other activities that provide opportunities to enrich character, build confidence and create new relationships.
