After dedicating much of his life toward giving back to the community, Jim Scott is the ideal recipient of a prestigious award from the Y. The Jarrett-Scott Ford General Manager received the Plant City Y’s 16th Annual Strong Leader Award last month for echoing the Y's commitment to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.   In 1995, Jim started working for Ford Motor Company in his home state of Michigan. When he was transferred to Orlando the following year, Jim worked as a sales representative calling on dealerships throughout the state. During this time, he formed a business relationship with the Jarrett family which eventually led him to join Jarrett-Scott Ford in 1999. As a partner in the Jarrett’s Ford dealership network, Jim has run the Plant City and Dade City locations.   Jim is extremely active in the Plant City community, having served on the Tampa Y Governance Board for three years and Plant City Y Advisory Board for nine years - earning the Volunteer of the Year distinction. Jim currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation, Rotary Club of Plant City, Florida Strawberry Festival and East Hillsborough Law Enforcement Appreciation Association.   At the August 23rd Strong Leader dinner, Jim thanked the community and Y staff and board. “Our YMCA is such a wonderful organization and asset to our community. Our Y offers dynamic programming for people of all ages including those with special needs.” He expressed pride in joining 15 other distinguished Strong Leader awardees. “To think that I’m now following in the footsteps of the honorees that preceded me is humbling to say the least.”   Congratulations to Jim and family! Thank you for being continued Y supporters! To see photos from the Strong Leader Dinner, click here.
