Serving You Better
It’s the moment North Tampa community members have been waiting for…a newly renovated Bob Sierra North Tampa YMCA! A Dec. 7 ribbon-cutting made the $2.2 million renovation official and now Y members and guests can enjoy a newly expanded welcome center, wellness floor and Kid Zone along with modernized locker rooms, coffee bar and lounge areas.
After more than 30 years, it was time to spruce up the Bob Sierra Y to better serve the Northdale and Carrollwood communities. “It’s important to us that our staff and our members have a YMCA facility that we can be proud of where you can learn, grow and thrive in bigger and better ways than ever before,” says Tampa YMCA President & CEO Matt Mitchell.
“As a Bob Sierra Y member, I have an opportunity to see first-hand the incredible impact and life-changing work the Y has on children and families,” testified Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan at the ribbon-cutting. “There is no other organization like the YMCA and that’s why I am such a supporter and proud to be a member.
The ribbon-cutting comes just one year after the Bob Sierra Y unveiled new group exercise, cycling and mind & body studios. This renovation focuses on the Y’s commitment to making the community healthier, stronger and better. Furthermore, the makeover to the Kid Zone Learning & Play Center ties to the Y’s commitment to Youth Development. Now, we can serve more kids in an expanded space where they can learn about teamwork, relationship-building and other life skills while their parents and caregivers are taking advantage of all the Y has to offer, including the newly renovated wellness center with brand new state-of-the-art strength training equipment.
With the help of this expansion, the YMCA is on the forefront of preventing chronic disease through our Y Diabetes Prevention Program, Y Weight Loss Program, Pedaling for Parkinson’s, SilverSneakers and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. Thank you all for your continued support of the Y as we strengthen our life-changing impact in this community!
