An Unbreakable Bond

Date night took on a whole new meaning for more than 130 local fathers. Dressed to the nines, dads escorted their little girls to the Campo Family YMCA’s 3rd Annual Daddy-Daughter Dance late last month.

During the special event, fathers opened doors, pulled out chairs and treated their daughters like the princesses they are. One dad even dressed as Prince Charming from Cinderella. Others wore pink or red to match their daughters’ formal dresses for the Feb. 24 event.

“We host a daddy-daughter dance because we believe in the importance of families having a strong relationship,” says Families Activities Coordinator Alicia Bentley. “This event creates a moment that dads and their daughters can share and remember for a lifetime. We also want to reach out to the community to show the YMCA is a place for families to come have fun and grow together.” The Campo Y is planning a mother/son event similar to this one for May.

Many thanks to Chick-fil-A for providing delicious dinner, drinks, dessert and goodie bags. The daddy-daughter duos also enjoyed fun games, photo booth fun, balloon animals and a magic show. Thank you to all our staff and Campo Teen Leaders for helping pull off a successful event!
