A Big Win for the Kids

Twenty-two kids from the Sulphur Springs YMCA spent a Sunday afternoon cheering in the home stands for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It marked the season’s fifth “Gameday for Kids” hosted by the NFL team and the Glazer Family Foundation. It looks like the Y kids served as good luck charms since the Bucs beat the Kansas City Chiefs 38-10 that day.

During each Buccaneers home game, the Glazer Family Foundation hosts 100 “Gameday for Kids” from nonprofit organizations that promote academic achievement and positive behavior in children. After achieving certain goals set by the Sulphur Springs Y, the kids received game tickets, food vouchers and Buccaneers merchandise.

Game Day for KidsIt’s a first-time experience for many of the young guests from the Y. Sulphur Springs Y coordinator Meghan Tauber says, “From the moment our group showed up, we were given the red carpet treatment. Thanks to the Bucs and Glazers for this wonderful opportunity to enjoy the game. We were all convinced that they won against the Chiefs that day because WE were there to cheer them to victory! Great job Bucs and great job to our kids for cheering their hearts out!”
