| Let's All Play at Healthy Kids Day! |
|
At sixteen months, Ellie is not much taller than the Hula Hoop she balances in her hand. But that didn’t stop her from having a good time with the bright pink toy. Her mom, Stacey understands the importance of social interaction for her daughter. “I try to get play dates and experiences with other kids. Healthy Kids Day is the perfect way and great fun for both of us!” Stacey and Ellie were two of the estimated 1,500 children, youth and adults who enjoyed spending time together having fun at the Ys community-wide celebration, Healthy Kids Day. Celebrated Saturday April 28 at Curtis Hixon Park, the nationally recognized family fun event featured activities for all ages. Kids tried their hand at target golf, baseball, basketball, football and hula hoops. Families sampled fresh fruits and healthy snacks. Community partners including fire fighters, football players, cheerleaders and stilt walkers were on hand. And the highlight of the day was the mascot contest featuring all the area’s most loved mascots including Y Guy and Y Girl! Stacey and Ellie have participated in swim lessons at the Campo Y. “Ellie loves it! And we love the Y! It is reasonable for families and is Christian-based.” You can celebrate Healthy Kids Day everyday at the YMCA! > View photos from Healthly Kids Day |
